Our team

We are a team of 10 lawyers, gender experts, law graduates, support staff and roster of experts.

Our lawyers have over 20 years collective experience in combatting sexual and gender-based violence and we are trained in survivor centered approaches to legal practice.

Our Afghan lawyers are admitted to practice and are registered with the Afghanistan Bar Association.

We benefit from continuing in-house and external training in various aspects of Afghan Law, International Human Rights Law (including women’s rights and children’s rights), and in the litigation of complex human rights cases.

Why we are unique

01/ We are activist-lawyers. We use the justice process and our knowledge of law to initiate and push for bold and transformative actions.

02/ We are constantly challenging and at the same time encouraging State authorities to practise a gender and survivor-centered approach to justice.

03/ We hold the government accountable. At the same time, we offer them our wholehearted support to uphold the rule of law. This is our idea of peaceful resistance.

04/ We are the only organisation in Afghanistan with specialisation and subject-matter expertise on institutionalised sexual violence.
